The debt piles up, the streets become ever more unsafe, thousands pour into the country illegally, legally hundreds of thousands come, the military can’t fight a war, inter-ethnic tensions mount and the healthcare system which is our national religion is now run by left wing extremists. These are just some of the urgent issues that have piled up over the last 10 years or more and yet anyone watching parliament would assume everything is just fine.
Your average PMQ’s seems to revolve around a load of adults braying like toddlers whilst the Prime Minister does everything but answer any questions whilst the leader of the opposition looks slightly confused. The alternative leader of the opposition is now shouted down by the rest of the chamber whilst the Speaker looks on and smirks inwarding such is his level of unprofessionalism.
Your average debate in parliament now seems to involve people trying to out do each other on how to look good rather than substantive points. Certainly the idea that there are trade offs is apparently lost on most of those in attendance. I would love to say the nation rages at the intellectual laziness and emotional diarrhoea which infests the Palace of Westminster but honestly most people don’t tune in anymore.
I mean why would they when it has been clear for some time that the place is not really even trying to grapple with our actual problems. Instead focusing laser like trying to kill granny, abortion rights that already existed and the usual moments of grandstanding when someone who they all professed to hate their entire career dies and they are obligated to say something nice.
That is just about the sum of it I must sadly report. Hell, even I, a political junkie, have largely given up. I have been let down too many times when I have bothered to watch. The pain of seeing the absolute collapse in standards is too much for me. Much easier to let it go and not wind myself up even more. Much better to remember what it used to be like before the current substandard class of toadies took over.
There is good stuff going on there - there are many good and hard working people. Sadly they appear to be drowned out by the ocean of mediocrities who don’t seem to understand the world nor alarmingly seem to care about their own ignorance. It is much easier and more comfortable to stay in their comfort zones than engage with the hard stuff that really needs to be fixed because that would mean discussing trade offs and they hate them.
I mean it is not like the pile of problems is not big and important enough - I will add to the list now. A debt crisis, collapsed public standards, broken legal system, Islamist terrorism, a smashed energy system, de-industrialisation, failing local councils, a failed university system etc etc - I could go on but why bother. The list is a fucking essay at this point, it is well known and it is getting worse by the day and yet somehow no one really wants to get into the details.
Westminster has become a festival of the ridiculous and this government is the headline act. A pratfall of clowns overseeing a general farce. All apparently blissfully unaware of how the rest of the country views them. For we are no longer amused by the comedic act - it has grown old and jarring. Much like an old comedy with the laughter track turned all the way up. You are commanded to laugh but you just switch off.
A perfect example of this was the state visit of President Macron of France. A man who has done nothing for this country in his entire time in power and yet the British political class just couldn’t help itself. Happily debasing itself and Britain in an effort to demonstrate what wonderful internationalists they are. All whilst Macron laughed and smirked before unveiling his deal for Starmer.
50 migrants a week will be sent back to France. As someone wittily put it on Twitter that is 17 in and 1 out. Good god that will break the pull factors - no more boats will be coming. I mean this is patently nonsense but that is the hard sell from the government. The laughter track is turned all the way up. We are supposed to ignore reality and the basic use of logic because the clowns are playing again for our amusement.
I don’t blame the French, they are doing what is best for them. They must be laughing all the way to the bank as they take their £500 million a year for doing very little whilst happily waving the criminals goodbye. That is what is known as a no brainer. We as a public should and more and more do blame the clowns in charge in Westminster and beyond as they honk their horns whilst pretending they are taking action.
The weird counterpoint to this is the drum beat of war that now pervades the European continent. We are all supposed to be scared that the Russians are about to invade. I am personally terrified now. I fully expect a lightning strike across the central European plain through another nuclear power before they build rafts at Calais to come and get us. It is clearly going to happen like tomorrow - I need to brush up on my Russian.
Obviously this is nonsense and more and more people can see it. I get it if you are in Eastern Europe and you are sat near Russia you may well be nervous. However sitting in Western Europe and and especially on a nuclear armed island group I am not. I am though scared stiff of the absolute rank amateurs who run this country. The clown car is sweet and laughing at their incompetence is therapeutic but it is tinged with real concern.
I mean seriously how much more can we take - I fear not so much. The gulf between the public and the establishment is not so much a gulf but an interstellar parsec. Few of them seem to grasp how more and more people feel. Worse than that I think many of them think the public is irrelevant except at election time. They think they can ignore the will and wish of the emergent majority whilst they play with trivialities.
Hell when even the Economist and the FT are discussing the need to seriously change the ECHR and the Refugee convention because of mounting public concerns then you know regime change is imminent. Like all good gutless wonders they have seen the way the wind is blowing and are jumping ship before it sinks like the Titanic. They at least have a sense of self preservation I fear much of the establishment do not.
Either way this government is the end and that end I believe may come sooner than many think. It is simply not capable with the Prime Clowner in tackling anything meaningful. Instead day by day the public is just left waiting and almost challenged to see how much they will take before something goes bang. A pressure cooker left boiling which will blow up in the faces of the clowns at some point soon.
I have to say I am and have been for some time an accelerationist. I find myself urging on history to whatever the final event is. I find I take perverse pleasure in the mounting crisis that now stalks the country as they are milestones along the way. Each one adding a little more steam to the cooker - bringing us a little closer to whatever is going to finally make it all go pop. Not because I want to see anyone hurt - well mostly but because I see it as the only way out.
We need something big enough to wake up people from their stupor and force the political system to mutate under the pressure. A large enough crisis that will act like chemotherapy on a stagnate and frankly vile political economy that has long since turned cancerous and is killing the patient which is the British nation. With a big enough crisis space can open up for radical and rapid change of the economy and the state and when I say reform I mean by chainsaw.
So though I am horrified at the thought of a debt crisis, an energy system crash or even a terrorist attack I am also left hoping over what would come out of that. At least the interregnum would be over. At least we would have to move forward and leave behind - this - because - this - is simply unbearable for everyone. It demeans our country and our history and in its own way it is killing people both physically and emotionally. I don’t know about you but I hate it - I find it depressing, enraging and utterly incomprehensible where this country finds itself.
Something will happen and I suspect soon. The country is primed like a dry forest that has not had a fire in years. One good spark will set things off and then events may well spin away faster than many think. Then the clowns in charge will have a choice. Try and put things out with their little joke buckets or put away their clowning outfits, grow up and act like adults and for some maybe even statesmen. We can hope and if not well it will teach us to approach elections with the seriousness they demand.
Spot on as usual.
I used to be pro acceleration, but the last 10 years have been nothing but acceleration and we are all locked in the cattle cart. The tipping point for many was the redistribution of migrants to rural and non urban setting which has given a leafy shires and the like an idea of what is and has happened in the cites.
A new tipping point was reached earlier this year IMHO opinion with the moms suddenly getting scared. Large packs of migrants who have been transplanted to villages just hanging around in large groups, scares the hell out of them. If it was large packs of even British lads it would be worry for women and mothers but it way more scary when it clearly foreign and wrapped in hoodies and parkas. Now that women are getting scared it is pretty clear that behind closed doors conversations will be taking place that this needs fixed. Now both genders are clearly activated and the hurdle of shitlib women is coming to a sharp end.
This leaves the awkward and potentially illegal question of how do we sort this mess out. Reform leadership are on camera multiple times saying they will do nothing and to be frank don't care. Goodwin has broken rank with the party line yesterday which means he will probably suffer the same fate as Rupert Lowe and be ejected with extreme prejudice.
Every solution to the problem boils down to hard enforcement of the law and probably stripping citizenship from at minimum criminals where possible and removing undesirable people as well. Freeing up housing and reducing crime will come out of this move and help restore order. Reform are rapidly moving to pro Islam pandering and trying to get them as a new client group so that option is already of the table.
