We are in the eye of a political hurricane which started in 2016 and has continued ever since. Just like the real storms it is a weird calm created by the very forces that continue to beat everything in their path and yet for now all seems on the surface to be still. The country proceeds on, the system sort of functions and the population awaits.
But across the Western world we see similar hurricanes demolishing entire political systems. Ripping apart old coalitions and parties and turning them into twigs. It is a once in a hundred or perhaps even two hundred year moment. Perhaps it is unique in human history as it is the first time that the West has created a genuinely global civilisation with an attached political class and norms against which the public now rages.
The storm started gathering force in the UK over two decades earlier as a direct response to the mass immigration the liberal classes imposed on the country. We were told that the storm which hit with Brexit was a unique phenomenon to the UK and would never be repeated elsewhere and yet here we are. You look out across the West now and you see country after country plunging into political crisis as the old dies and new begins its slow birth.
In some countries this means new parties, in others old fringes ones coming to the fore whilst in others still it means the hostile takeover of the legacy parties like Trump. In all the same message is resonating that migration is out of control - that the current elites neither care nor want to do anything - that the existing system is fighting to maintain a status quo which hurts the many. The public would be right so one can hardly blame them for raging and burning down anything they can get their hands on.
For what have we seen in recent years across the West - not a reduction but massive expansion of migration. Not so much a wall of it but a tsunami coming in even as the public has screamed “Enough!”. Even in Brexit Britain that hive of racist, xenophobic villainy the Tories - the very party which took the country out of the EU after a referendum which was very much about migration decided to open the gates and let the masses in.
The former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak let the cat out of the bag when he said it was necessary to bring down inflation post Covid. This was happily breezed over by most of the pro migration liberal press but by saying that he said the quiet bit out loud that migration suppresses wages especially for the lowest paid. So that means across the West the political class have been directly attacking the lowest paid for decades via the mass importation of labour.
Back in the day the old left - the real left - understood this and fought tooth and nail to keep migration low and wages high and climbing. Sadly along with every other basic principle they jettisoned this fact early on and instead embraced globalisation as a method to increase the size of minority populations in the country as the white working class had so let them down during Thatcher.
This has been seen seen across the West - the same everywhere - more migrants meaning lower wages for the population all so the people in charge could feel good about themselves whilst re-engineering our societies to suit them. The left especially basically decided that they liked business more than the working class - now they look shocked that they are being given the finger as the working people are going elsewhere.
It also gave the political classes the advantage of flattering nominal GDP which is the total size of the economy. It grew gang busters at least at the beginning as more people always means more spending. However GDP per capita has been static for nearly 15 years in many countries. So the economy is getting bigger but we are at best not getting wealthier and in fact in most cases we are getting poorer. These are just facts though and the political class have become experts at avoiding them.
The other big impact has been productivity which is the measure of output per worker. That has simply collapsed in recent years. The experts can’t seem to work it out - I mean they are many of the same experts who said that migration made us wealthier. They appear confused why companies are not investing in plant and training to increase worker productivity but instead are employing ever more people. You can sack a worker easily - it is much harder to sell plant and training is a sunk cost - there I have solved it for them.
Wow that was hard.
That is just legal migration.
Illegal migration is even worse for here you see the political class abjectly refusing to accept that their beloved worldview has failed and are not just making us poorer but it is in fact out and out dangerous. Numerous security experts have said that the flow of mostly young men from largely violent Islamic countries poses a threat to our security at a national and individual level.
ISIS and other extremists groups are no doubt sending people who in due course will pop up to commit terrorist attacks and importing lots of aggressive sexually active men into a society which is in relative terms is more promiscuous puts women in danger. Ah sorry I am not supposed to say that as they are all doctors and engineers who come ashore waving their diplomas and bearing flowers for the lucky British public.
This is of course nonsense and more and more people can see it. The response from the political class since this crisis really kicked up a gear has been to ignore, deny, deflect and hope it goes away. The Tories were less than useless and Labour are out and out dangerous. Any solutions put forward are either patently never going to work like “Smashing the gangs” or simply thrown aside if it impacts the liberal classes worldview.
For this is half the problem now the liberal classes which make up the majority of the politicians in parliament, the media, the people in our institutions and across the top of society are more interested in looking great and making sure nothing changes to the world that they have done so well out of that they are willing to pile the wood up for our own societal immolation.
The political class are picking people up and ferrying them into the UK and then putting them up in hotels which are better than your average British citizens house. They paying for all their food, giving them mobile phones so they can ring their friends to encourage them to come, providing private health and dental care when your average citizen can barely get either. Then if they fail the apparently useless refugee tests they are rarely deported and all of this using our money - not theirs.
This at a time when the state is so useless that the roads are no longer cleaned, people are dying waiting for ambulances, we have a government attacking both pensioners and farmers for more money which will in total at best raise about ¼ of the cash they are spending each year on this undemocratic security disaster even though the majority of the public don’t want these people here.
But then the liberal classes don’t care as this is the system brought about by the Refugee convention, European Court of Human Rights, the Human Rights Act and more and for them the process is all that matters. The idea that the rights of the public should come before some random men who have illegally entered the country is beyond them. I suppose that makes sense if everyone is a victim - well except your own citizens.
“You will never understand bureaucracies until you understand that for bureaucrats procedure is everything and outcomes are nothing”
The above quote from Thomas Sowell suddenly makes sense when you consider the actual response of the political class and the broader state. It definitely sums up Labour which helped to create many of our modern procedures and Starmer who is a creature of the institutions after his years as an ambulance chasing human rights lawyer and then Director of Public Prosecutions
The status quo rules because the idea of changing anything is beyond the liberal classes - they like this world - they want this world and thus we can only assume they want illegal and legal migration at eye watering levels. This is surely true because they have demonstrated repeatedly via their stated vs revealed preferences. They keep saying they want to lower migration and to stop the boats - in reality they do neither.
Don’t buy for one second that they can’t do something. That is bullshit of the highest order pushed by people who actually like to pretend they have no power because it goes hand in hand with their worldview. Liberal democracy has long since devolved into an increasingly lazy parody of its former self. Power is farmed out to “experts” and the courts so that the political classes can escape from responsibility.
This is why they were so upset when the British public took away their EU train set. They were actually going to be forced to do stuff and be held responsible rather than being able to blame Brussels. Well they are now doing the same with every other legal act and international agreement they can hide behind. They don’t want the public to actually force them to make decisions which might upset their poxy worldview.
The British constitution is underpinned by one major principle that even now is true - parliamentary sovereignty. That is that no parliament can pass laws that future parliaments cannot change. So when they say we can’t because of something what they mean is they don’t want to. They could pass or unpick any law within hours if they wanted to as was proven by the disgraceful Benn act during Brexit.
They could easily repeal the Human Rights act, they could easily withdraw from any treaty or organisation like the European Court of Human Rights. These are simple choices that could be made by the political class at any time. They could stop legal and illegal migration within days if they were so motivated but they don’t - again stated vs revealed preferences. So people should be angry and they are.
Instead the liberal classes are attempting to hide on every level the reality of the situation. Crimes are buried, economic data is massaged, benefit data is hidden but the truth is coming out. All the dead bodies are coming up whether the clever people in charge like it or not and slowly but surely the truth is revealing itself. The sudden light is exposing the rotten decaying foundations of their immigrationist worldview. The facts couldn’t stay hidden forever because the problems have become so big.
You could hide a few attacks or benefit claims but not when the migrant population is in the millions and certainly not when the general public is getting shat on economically by a system which has manifestly failed. But reality is finally shining through and with it is coming the public rage - slow to build but it will be impossible to stop in the end. Starmer may have cowed the working class post the riots but soon it will be the middle class who erupt and they know how to work the media and the law.
The UK may be in the eye of the hurricane but we will soon punch through the wall to join the rest of the West in the heart of the storm. This is not going away and if things are half as bad as I think then I expect this bad boy to go all the way to category six as more and more people realise what has been done to us and our societies by the liberal classes and their worldview.
The Lebanese Canadian psychologist Gad Saad coined the term “Suicidal Empathy” to describe the liberal classes belief you can import masses of people from some of the most violent and illiberal states on earth but expect them to conform to liberal norms. He points out that you are importing a form of societal cancer which will metastasis in due course causing horrific problems at best and changing our societies at worse.
He is right and this has already happened across our civilisation.
I actually think this could very fast turn very very nasty. I first read people talking about mass deportations a year or so ago and discounted it as an extremist view. However this is a policy that is rapidly gaining traction everywhere. Look at me a former Labour / Lib Dem supporter who fully supports it. People have had enough and they want action. They are not going to be bought off by the liberal classes wringing their hands and claiming it is all too hard.
My fear is that the longer this goes on and the more rotten the reality of mass migration is shown to be the more people will move to the extremes. Human derived systems always over correct and I suspect that such is the level of damage and suppression over this subject that this reaction could be really drastic. I am genuinely scared as the political class just don’t seem to care about the storm swirling around them. Well I think they will care very very shortly - I am genuinely very worried.
